Evening News return with Cupid’s Plan, a new EP shaped by two years of live shows, improvisation and the band’s growing fascination with electronic music.
Moving further into the synth-heavy world hinted at on their first release, Cupid’s Plan draws on breakbeats, evolving synths, retro game soundtracks and the energy of the dancefloor. The songs began as live jams and developed through performances in Melbourne and on the band’s first international tour of Japan, before being recorded at Dune Castle and expanded through layers of electronic production.
Balancing the immediacy of a live four-piece with the possibilities of electronic production, Cupid’s Plan captures Evening News at their strangest, most playful and dancefloor-focused yet.
